Hi all,
Guitar Pro 6 was re-written using Qt.
What do you think, should TuxGuitar be
re-written using Qt? What are the pros
and cons?

My 2 cents:
Pros: A potential gain in performance, but nothing is guaranteed. Also, ability to run on MeeGo?
Cons: Duplication of efforts. I would imagine it will take a long time to rewrite the code, and may not be worth it anyway. During that time, the current Java code could instead evolve many additional features and improvements.

There is no rewrite needed in tg code to use QT.. only a QT SWT port is needed.
tuxguitar uses SWT library: http://www.eclipse.org/swt/
This is why it works under different toolkits ( Gtk/Motif/Carbon/Cocoa/Win32/etc... )
Because license issues, a QT port was never released, but since QT license changed, i readed thatthere are plans to implement a QT port of SWT. so for KDE users..
Pros: KDE users ( or maybe QT Fans ) would have a native look 'n feel.
Cons: Nothing, because application not have changes.
