Subject Problem creating bass guitar tab   Post Reply Post New Topic

Hello

I need to convert a midi file into a bass guitar tab, but I'm having trouble.
The tab is meant for a drop-D bass, since some notes are lower than E2.
When I import the midi file, all the notes show but I need to tell the software that it's a 4 string only tab instead of a 5 string one. By default, TG interprets the instrument as being stringed B1 E2 A2 D3 G3

And then, when I change tuning to have only 4 strings, even though I make sure to ask for the lower string to be D2, the D2 notes no longer appear on the tab...

Can someone help?

You could try leaving it as a 5-string but change the tuning from BEADG to DADGC and then just ignore the C string.

Sometimes you have to do a lot of editing by hand, so if the above doesn't work you'll have to enter the notes manually.
