sometimes tuxguitar plays the wrong instruments, for example it should play clean guitar, but plays instead piano or some other insturment. Even if I chose the right instrument from the menu it still plays the wrong one. This happenes every time for certain songs and at random for others.
midi sequencer: tuxguitar sequencer
midi port: java sound synthesizer (with java soundbank)

if you have multiple tracks, make sure they use different midi channels
if it's not the problem, so try use a different MIDI port..

thanks for the advice, but i don`t know how to verify if every track is using a different midi channel. it could be the problem though, because i tried playing every track alone with the other muted and it's the right instrument.

On the mixer ( same place where you mute tracks )
there are 2 drop down boxes for each track..
these are channels.
the first drop down, is the normal channel
the second is used for effects that have "midi pitch bend" messages.
