how do you use sound fonts in windows xp?
i cant figure out what to do?
im new to this program.

getting sound fonts on windows can be so hard to make work.
but maybe with gervill project you can do this easily:
https://gervill.dev.java.net/
But i need to know, what release of tuxguitar do you have installed to help you installing it.
i mean, tuxguitar 1.0 have a "Jet" release, "GCJ" release and a classic java release. what is yours ?

how do you use gervill?
anyways, i have the classic java release.
but for sake of ease, i could install either of the other releases...

If you use a normal java
you can download and extract gervill.
and copy the file called "gervill.jar" to the java extension folder:
Go to where is java installed ( Ussually Program Files/Java/[version] )
and if you have a "JRE" (Java Runtime Edition) add gervill.jar in:
lib/ext folder.
if you have "JDK" (Java Development Kit) add it on:
jre/lib/ext folder.
Then when you restart tuxguitar, you should be able to select "Gervill" on Tools -> Settings : Sound -> MIDI Port.
if it's there, so you successfully installed it.
Now, to load the soundfont, you can go to "Tools -> Plugins"
and on "Java Sound Api plugin" click in "Configure" button.
then check "Use custom soundbank" and select any .sf2 file.
Gervill needs a nice PC to run fine. but you can test yourself

No! No! I have 1.0, but I was asking, what if we have precompiled versions of Tuxguitar, and not the one that requires Java.

Just because I was curious, I used the .sf2 that comes with mario paint composer. Everything sounds so cute with mario's head marimba as every single instrument. Didn't expect that, but it's amazingly cool. Thanks!
