I'm jut wondering if there is a way to record guitar tab by playing the guitar, which is plugged into my computer's microphone jack?
Thank you in advance.

use google to search for "wav to tab"
in your setup it should be usable, though putting music from cd for examplte into these programs doesnt work to well

Maybe if you have a MIDI guitar (expensive and hard to find), and you record a MIDI and import it into TuxGuitar.
In other words: no. :)

ccbrat, It's same as if you plug a microphone.
just plug your guitar on "Mic" soundcard input.
and check your OS volume control to make sure Mic is not muted.

It sounds like it would be better to buy a keyboard and the MIDI cords and record it that way.

I have a roland gr-20 with gk3a pickup on my guitar, it ouputs midi with that. if you only need a melody you could use rakarakk with its guitar->midi function. that function only works on 1 string at a time, and the tracking isn't the best, but its something for you to try out
