You don't. There's no MP3 option in Tux.

Hi JTX,

Use Tuxguitar to export to midi and then use another application to convert to MP3.

There are plenty of midi to MP3 converters available on the net. This link may help: http://www.wikihow.com/Change-a-Midi-File-to-a-Wav-or-MP3-File

For MIDI, I prefer Timidity++ mostly because it is open source, and you can choose from a wide variety of sound fonts. If it doesn't sound the way you like, change the font and try again.

Export to WAV is in progress (Lobo is working on it and sending me updates for my quasi-fork), but it will still sound like general midi, not a high quality sound font. Unless that gets implemented too.

In 1.2 version there is option to export music as WAV file, if you use Gervill plugin. This plugin + good sounfont make much better sound comparing with e.g. fluidsynth plugin + same soundfont. I hope in the next release gervill plugin will also work (I tried the new TG jar files from b4dc0d3r's fork on sourceforge and the old gervill plugin still works for sound but it is not in the plugins list for some reason and audio export doesn't work too).

Here there is an example what can be achieved (WAV converted to MP3):

What's the reason you want to covert a midi to an mp3? What are you doing with the mp3 that is created?

The main class has changed from org.herac.tuxguitar.gui to org.herac.tuxguitar.app

The plugins are org.herac.tuxguitar.app.system.plugins.TGPlugin

Old plugins using "gui" will not match with the new jar using "app". That is why some plugins do not work with the new version. Mostly, it is just a minor text change. I tried to compile gervill but it gave me errors for some reason. It shoud work in the future.

tuxguitar-gervill depends on gervill
you have to compile it with openJDK or configure path.gervill in the build.properties file.
