Hello,
Can anyone explain how alternative endings work ?
I have already tried a million combinations, but nothing happened as I expected.
Say I have a song of 6 bars :
I want bar 1 to repeat once, then I want the song to go on playing to the 6th bar (from bar 2 to bar 6, after the repeat of bar 1).
At the 6th bar, I want the song to start all over again - from bar 1, then - and stop at bar 3, skipping bar 2 (because bar 3 is a variation of bar 2).
How can I do that ?

To do something like this you need to use things like go to coda, that tuxguitar currently don't support.
the alternative endings, are more for change ends of repetitions, but not using allways same bars.
you often do:
repeated section -> end 1 -> repeated section -> end 2
but here you are not using alternative endings, because the repeat is already closed on bar 1.
so when you finish play the first bar, the repeat was closed, and later the endings don't take effect for first bar.
to stop at bar 3, you also would need some segno to mark it as end.
So to make it with alternative repeats, you need to duplicate some bars.
* bar 1, should be duplicated (1 and 2), as the allways played segment.
* your bars 2 to 6, must be now 3 to 7, and bar 3 must have the alternative ending "1"
* copy the bar 3 (now 4) as a new bar 8.
and you'll get:
|: 1 | 2 | ( ending 1: 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 ) :| ( ending 2: 8 )
and it will play on this order: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,1,2,8
